Jose Mourinho has made a joking apology to Ola Solbakken after the Roma coach went viral with a wordless change of plan for his substitution.

The Norwegian was all ready to come off the bench with the scoreline at 0-0 in the Serie A match against Sampdoria on Sunday.

However, the moment the deadlock was broken by Gini Wijnaldum’s header, Mourinho’s reaction was caught on camera and bridged every potential language barrier.

Now that they had the lead, introducing an attacking winger was no longer a priority.

It went viral with people feeling sorry for Solbakken and even Mourinho posted it on Instagram with an apology: ‘Sorry Ola.’
