Spezia coach Thiago Motta said Daniele Verde and Emmanuel Gyasi could continue in midfield. ‘Gyasi can cover many roles, Verde has enormous qualities’.

La Spezia are struggling in Serie A and Motta is desperate for points when Salernitana arrive on Saturday.

The two sides are tied on four points in the relegation battle, with both teams in the relegation zone ahead of Serie A Week 8.

Gyasi and Verde played in midfield when Spezia los 4-0 to Hellas Verona last time and the two attackers could continue to help out in the future.

Castori expects Simy to make an impact: ‘I see growth’

“Daniele has enormous characteristics and qualities, he must improve in other aspects,” Motta said at a press conference. “I also have esteem for Gyasi.

“I arrived and in times of difficulty, when I didn’t have players in certain roles, I always talked to him and asked him if he felt capable of doing it.

“He always replied positively. He has desire, he has something inside that is different from what we are used to seeing.

“It’s good for him, as he can grow a lot, and good for us and for me as a coach, since he can cover many roles.”

Gyasi is normally a left-winger and has scored two goals in seven Serie A games this term, the same tally as right-winger Daniele Verde has in 2021-22.
