Marco Motta says the first six months of the season at Juventus did not affect him, but better prepared him for life now at Genoa.

The full-back failed to find another club last summer and managed just 23 minutes of League action during the first half of this season back with the Bianconeri.

Now at Genoa after a January transfer and closing in on a Week 28 reunion with the Old Lady, the 27-year-old has made clear that he does not see that spell on the Bianconero sidelines as wasted time.

Now at Genoa after a January transfer and closing in on a Week 28 reunion with the Old Lady, the 27-year-old has made clear that he does not see that spell on the Bianconero sidelines as wasted time.

“At Juventus I was a good professional who used the six months to work hard during the week,” explained Motta to Tuttosport today.

“I came to Genoa with the engine already hot and I was not surprised that [Gian Piero] Gasperini immediately gave me a chance.

“The months at Juventus have put me to the test, they taught me more than they marked me. I used those moments to strengthen and I know myself better.

“I went through a period of growth at Juventus from which I have come out stronger, more confident and more sure of my ability.

“In Genoa I feel the confidence of my teammates, Gasperini and the directors. Genoa is my chance to get back to a leading role, I am working with serenity but also with a lot of determination.

“I could have gone abroad but then I spoke with [President Enrico] Preziosi and I felt his trust, so I decided to go and play in Genoa. I can say that I am having a great time and this is not the wrong choice.

“Gasperini and Conte have a similar vision of football, both like to play very attacking. They are lovers of the work, but do that work differently.

“Tevez? He is crazy, his resume speaks for itself. I hope he does not score in Genoa-Juventus.”
