The Azzurri began their pre-tournament training for Euro 2016 with the 30-man preliminary squad at Coverciano today.

“Thiago Motta and Montolivo both arrived with right calf problems and we’ll evaluate them over the next four or five days,” explained Professor Enrico Castellacci.

“We are examining the test results they performed with their clubs, over the next few days will go through physiotherapy, gym work and light running, then by the end of the week we’ll have a very clear idea of the situation.”

Antonio Conte must name his final 23-man squad for the competition on Tuesday May 31.

“Bernardeschi will not be training today, as he has a slight fever and we decided it was better to let him rest.”

Those players who did not take part in last week’s get-together underwent the same rigorous fitness tests as the others.

The rest split off into three units for today’s training session.

In the red bib were Daniele De Rossi, Angelo Ogbonna, Emanuele Giaccherini, Marco Parolo and Ciro Immobile.
