It has been a bizarre story for the former Manchester United talent, who was a free agent after making seven appearances for Cardiff City.

He signed a pre-contract agreement with Lazio in February and has been training in Rome, even though he cannot make his official debut until next season due to UEFA restrictions.

English papers claim Morrison is so home-sick that he asked his agents to get him out of the deal so he can return to Queen’s Park Rangers.

Still only 22, he has been at six different clubs in his career and his fiery character caused numerous run-ins with the law.

However, Italian papers maintain Morrison is starting to settle down in the Eternal City after initial injury problems and Lazio are eager to make this work.

“I met him in Rome and he seemed happy to be there,” QPR transfer consultant Gianni Di Marzio told lalaziosiamonoi.it.

“He’s a very strong player, but inconsistent. He’s a bit of a wild card, but a good lad really. At Lazio he could play in Antonio Candreva’s role out wide on the right or a little further back.”
