Piermario Morosini’s funeral will take place on Wednesday morning in Bergamo, after a final farewell to Livorno fans the day before.
Morosini, who collapsed and died on the pitch during his team’s game away to Pescara on Saturday afternoon, will be buried on Wednesday morning in his home town of Bergamo, confirmed a statement on Livorno's official website.
Before the service at his local church in the district of Monterosso, the footballer’s body will be taken to Livorno for a procession to the club’s Stadio Armando Picchi on Tuesday afternoon, where scheduled for 2pm Italian time, it will pause under the Curva Nord.
The player’s cause of death is yet to be determined, but the latest reports are suggesting that the most likely explanation is that the 25-year-old had a congenital heart defect.
