Morocco coach Walid Regragui insists Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat and Milan target Hakim Ziyech ‘must play for one of the top 10 clubs in the World.’

Amrabat and Ziyech shone in Qatar, helping Marocco become the first African team to end the World Cup in the top four.

Morocco beat Belgium in the group stage and shocked Spain and Portugal in the knock-out phase, losing the semi-final against France and the third-place play-off against Croatia.

Amrabat was perhaps the best defensive midfielder in the tournament and coach Regragui said he should join a bigger club.

“With all the respect due to Fiorentina, Amrabat should play for one of the top 10 clubs in the World,” he told Moroccan TV Arryadia.

“Amallah and Ounahi will surely find better clubs and the same is true of Ziyech who proved what he can do. He should be a starter at Chelsea.”

Tottenham and Liverpool are said to be interested in Amrabat, but Fiorentina are determined to activate a clause to extend his contract until 2025.

His current deal expires in June 2024, but by activating his contract clause, Fiorentina will have more control over negotiations that will be held in January or in the summer.
