Lazio continue to discuss a potential deal with Marseille for midfielder Matteo Guendouzi as more details begin to emerge behind Marseille’s reported asking price.

On Tuesday morning, multiple outlets began to report that Lazio had begun discussions with the Ligue 1 side for Guendouzi, with Lazio looking to provide Maurizio Sarri with another option in midfield before the close of the summer transfer window.

It has now been revealed by Gianluca Di Marzio that Marseille’s initial request is for a transfer fee of €20m, which would leave room for Lazio to negotiate an eventual sum closer to the €15m mark.

It is believed that €15m up front would be enough to convince Marseille into letting Guendouzi leave.

The 24-year-old has made a total of 72 top flight appearances for Marseille since joining from Arsenal in 2021. While in North London, Guendouzi turned out 57 times in the Premier League.

Lazio lost a long-serving, influential midfielder in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, who joined Al-Hilal for a reported fee of around €40m. The Bianocelesti have since brought in Daichi Kamada and Nicolo Rovella, but would still like to add one more name to that list.
