Former Inter President Massimo Moratti ‘still believes’ in the Scudetto this season and hopes Giovanni Simeone can make up for what his father Diego took away in 2002 by beating Milan.

The Nerazzurri are temporarily top of the table after their comeback win from 2-0 down to beat Empoli 4-2 last night.

Milan still have to play away to Hellas Verona on Sunday evening and need a victory to maintain their two-point lead.

“This is now the time of superstition and waiting for Milan to slip up,” Moratti told L’Interista.

“I still believe in the Scudetto, of course, just as I have believed since the first day. We have certainly proved we’ve got the character to do it and try to win this title.”

The fact Milan have to play Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi has not gone unnoticed, with Giovanni Simeone upfront.

Memories hark back to May 5, 2002, when Diego Simeone – Giovanni’s father – was on target as Lazio beat Inter 4-2 and handed the Scudetto to Juventus.

“It could be the ideal solution to complete the circle and bring back our friendship with the wonderful Cholo!” said Moratti.

“I hope it goes that way! I’m kidding, we will always be friends with Simeone, even if it is difficult to forget some things, no matter how many years go by.”

  1. #Norata:
Because he has Inter in his blood, and still is one of the biggest fans. Ownership has nothing to do with that. At all.

  2. Norata, He won numerous titles for us including an unprecedented TREBLE, brought us Vieri, Baggio, cannavaro, Roberto Carlos, the real Ronaldo, Figo, Zanetti, Blanc, Adriano, Etoo, milito, Wesley, maicon, Walter Samuel, cordoba and many more. His father built the Grande Inter with sandro Mazzola. Moratti’s blood is Black and blue, never forget.
