Reports on Wednesday suggested that Barcelona were planning a swoop for the Slovenian international goalkeeper just a year after his arrival from Udinese” data-scaytid=”5″>Udinese.

“I’m not aware of any offer from Barcelona,” the President told the Corriere dello Sport. “Handanovic is a pillar of this club and we’ll look to keep him.”

When asked whether he could be tempted to sell if Barca offered Sanchez as part of the deal, Moratti didn’t seem too keen.

“He’s an excellent player, but he’d be hard to sign,” the oil baron continued. “And, anyhow, others make the difference.

“The construction of the team is fundamental for us, to have a defence that doesn’t concede goals because we’ve always had scorers up front.”

Reports this week have also suggested that former boss Leonardo, currently at Paris Saint-Germain, could return as a director.

“I honestly don’t think so,” Moratti responded. “He’s happy in Paris and we are not a club who can express themselves with the generosity of PSG on the transfer market.

“Our bond of respect and esteem remains intact. We’d get in touch with each other if we were ever interested in one of their players.”
