President Massimo Moratti is very impressed with Leonardo and has “no intention of changing Coach,” even if Jose Mourinho returned.

As he is finding life difficult at Real Madrid, there are increasing reports Mou could walk away in the summer and seek a second spell at San Siro.

“I don't know. I must say that Mourinho is a professional and I think he'll want to do well at Real Madrid,” said Moratti on RAI television programme Dribbling.

“These are ties that bind people for a lifetime. What would I do if he asked to return? I don't think at this moment he would ask me, nor do I have any intention of changing Coach.”

The first successor to Mourinho was Rafa Benitez, who terminated his contract by mutual consent after winning the Club World Cup in December.

“Instinct told me Leonardo was the right man and I would make that choice again. In my view, he is a person with so many qualities and constantly puts them to good use.”

The Nerazzurri have a 100 per cent record under the Brazilian and are closing the gap on leaders Milan.

“We are among many teams who are doing well, not just Milan,” continued Moratti.

“We're trying to get back on track after a difficult situation we had a few months ago. We do it with confidence and also realism, knowing this is not an easy task.

“We have faith and if the players perform the way they can, I think we can complete the comeback.”
