Moratti: Pioli ‘the Normal One’

Massimo Moratti claims Inter have gone from ‘the Special One’ to ‘the Normal One’ in Stefano Pioli but is delighted with the Coach’s impact.

Pioli has exceeded all expectations since replacing Frank de Boer in November after leading Inter to eight straight wins, and Moratti admits he did not expect the Nerazzurri to move up the Serie A standings so quickly.

Juventus? I didn’t think there was enough time [for Inter] to get so close to them,” their former President told Il Giorno.

“I knew we’d climb up [the table] because Pioli’s a good Coach, also because Zhang is close to the team. But I didn’t think we’d recover with this speed and consistency, absolutely not.

“From the Special One [Jose Mourinho] to the Normal One? Yes, but this Normal One isn’t only a good guy that just gets on with [his work], he’s also instilled discipline in the group from what I’ve read and heard. He has character but there’s no drama with him, he just works really hard.”
