The Nerazzurri are the Serie A table leaders with a nine-point lead over second-placed Milan.

“Inter have a good gap, I am superstitious, so I don’t want to say anything, but I think Inter will manage this gap. Juventus have a game in hand, but they must play against Napoli,” Moratti told Radio Kiss Kiss.

The former Inter President went on to talk about his era at the club.

“José Mourinho is the coach that I still have in my heart, and he is the most winning coach too, even if it was under Roberto Mancini that we started winning consistently, and I don’t forget about Gigi Simoni.

“I wanted to sign Marek Hamsik and I called De Laurentiis, but he replied he didn’t want to sell him.

“It was our mistake not to sign him from Brescia when we could. Lavezzi was another excellent footballer.

“At that time, there wasn’t too much difference between the clubs so everyone could sign players to keep the championship balanced,” he continued.

Moratti was also asked if Cristiano Ronaldo deserved to be sent off against Cagliari for a reckless tackle on Alessio Cragno.

“I think that was worth a red card even if Ronaldo is not mean. He didn’t do that on purpose.”
