Inter President Massimo Moratti believes it is imperative that the team's players do not get distracted by the speculation surrounding Rafa Benitez's future.

The Spanish tactician is on the brink after a run of five games without a win, leaving Inter sixth in Serie A, their lowest position at this stage of the campaign for six years.

Speaking outside the Manzoni theatre in Milan last night, Moratti was cheekily asked who he would choose to replace Benitez.

"You do those things in the moment when it's right to do them," he said.

"Rafa is a serious person. He has broad shoulders. I believe in him. We're going forward this way.

"I have read many names as possible replacements for Benitez, each one with interesting characteristics. But we are not distracting ourselves with these things.

"Benitez is trying to find the solution both from an injuries and a playing point of view. He is working on a game-by-game solution.

"Within a month's time, 10 players will be back, so Inter can do more.

"We need to get running. Wednesday's game will be decisive, then the Club World Cup and we mustn't throw away points in the League."
