These are busy days for the former President and the current patron of the club, Erick Thohir. As they attempt to sell a part of the Nerazzurri's shares, their long-term mission is to get the club in line with FIFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.
“We've never had any disagreements,” Moratti said of Thohir, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “He is friendly, nice and optimistic. He shared his concerns with me and he explained what the situation looks like with FFP regulations. It's a delicate matter and we must be careful.”
Moratti was asked whether he expected Thohir to invest more in the club than he has done so far.
“I did, but at the same time Inter have expense problems related to international rules. So he has to tread carefully.
“And it's not a matter of spending a lot, but of buying the right players. Sometimes a player that is not as strong can be more useful. You need to discuss this with the Coach, too."
The Vice President was then questioned about Inter's coaching situation, with Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone having once expressed an interest in the Italians.
“As for [Coach Roberto] Mancini, it's between him and the President, but I really think he'll stay.
“I'm pleased about Simeone, but we already have our Coach. And he has a good team of his own and some important things to think about. Still, the future is open for everyone.”
