Former Inter President Massimo Moratti admits it’s not easy for the Nerazzurri to retain the Serie A title but hopes the last home game of the season will be Milan‘s May 5.

It is a widely known date for Inter fans who saw Juventus complete an incredible comeback on the final day of the 2001-02 campaign when the Bianconeri won the title following a 2-0 win at Udinese and Inter’s 4-2 loss against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Moratti was the Nerazzurri chairman at that time and he now hopes Inter’s rivals Milan will capitulate in the final game of the season on Sunday.

“It’s hard, but in football, everything is possible,” he told Adnkronos.

“Miracles can happen and things can change from one moment to another. We know that well. Milan and Inter are two great teams. It could rain like in Perugia, or Milan could face the same destiny as us on May 5. Perhaps, May 22 could become their May 5.

“I still believe Inter have a chance to make it,” added Moratti. “We have one game remaining and anything can happen in football. It may sound like a cliché, but anything can happen. Let’s see.”

  1. We will know the result after the games are played. the game is over, when it is over, and not before.

Lazio did in 2000 against a Juventus team that was 10 times better then this Milan outfit! One never knows. The probability is low but not zero until the games are played!
