Ex-Inter President Massimo Moratti reveals he could have signed a young Erling Haaland when he was at the helm of the club.

The Manchester City forward is breaking records in the Premier League, having netted 19 goals in the opening 12 games with his new club, scoring three hat-tricks in the first eight Premier League matches in his career.

The Norway international was in talks with Juventus in 2017 and even attended a game at the Allianz Stadium at that time.

However, he could have moved to Italy even earlier as, according to Massimo Moratti, Inter had a chance to sign him when Haaland was barely 13.

“Marco Branca would have made me sign him, 100%. He told me: ‘President, this is a special player.’ He could have been at Inter,” the former Inter President told Il Secolo XIX.

Branca was Inter’s sporting director during the final part of the Moratti era.

The Italian businessman sold the club to Erik Thohir in 2013 after 19 years at the helm of the club, so Haaland was just a promising teenager when the Nerazzurri had the chance to secure his signature.
