Multiple reports in Italy and Spain suggest Luis Suarez will join Atletico Madrid, freeing Alvaro Morata for Juventus on loan with option to buy, as Arkadiusz Milik stalls Edin Dzeko.

The transfer merry-go-round of strikers is not going quite the way it was meant to only a few days ago, when Dzeko was heading to Juve for €15m thanks to Milik leaving Napoli for Roma at a cost of €18m plus bonuses.

Milik’s inability to agree personal terms of his exit from Napoli has destroyed that whole chain of events, so Plan B was put into action.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Marca and more, Suarez has agreed a free transfer to Atletico Madrid.

In turn, Atleti will release Morata to join Juventus on loan for €10m with an option to buy for a further €45m.

Dzeko could well remain at Roma, but Napoli cannot keep Milik, because his contract only runs to June 2021 and he’d be a free agent next summer.

The Giallorossi still need another striker too, as Dzeko is currently their only forward option.
