The Spain CT has called-up the Bianconeri striker to his last two squads, and has been impressed with the player since his move to Serie A.
“When I saw that he went from Madrid to Juve, I thought it was a risky gamble,” Del Bosque admitted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He was a very young player, with a short career behind him, and he decided to go to not only a big club, but the team which had won the last three Italian titles.
“Little by little he acquired prominence and importance, he matured very quickly, and of course that’s also good for my national team.
“I like his desire, he knows he still has a lot to learn, but the expectations on him are high.
“We just have to make sure we proceed very carefully, because sometimes if the process of developing a player is altered, the progression stops.”
Del Bosque also gave his impressions of Morata as a person.
“When I spoke to him I thought he was just a normal lad, who doesn’t take things for granted, and I consider that very important."
“He’s an calm, quiet lad, one who admires the players alongside him, and that makes him a good person. All things which help a lot.
“He’s in the national team to earn his place.”
