Alvaro Morata was booed by Juventus fans yesterday and his future in Turin remains up in the air.

The Spaniard has scored four goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season, one every 273 minutes.

He was harshly criticised by fans and media after a poor performance against Atalanta yesterday.

He didn’t only fail to create trouble for La Dea, but a misplaced pass helped Berat Djimsiti set up Duvan Zapata for the eventual winner in the first half.

Morata was replaced in the second half and the Allianz Stadium crowd booed him while Juventus reserves and Massimiliano Allegri tried to cheer him up by clapping him.

Allegri Out? Fans react on social media after another Juventus setback

The Tuscan tactician refused to blame his striker in a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia.

“Clearly, fans boo when things don’t go well, but Morata’s performance was great, he fought hard. I have nothing to say to anyone,” the Juventus coach said.

Morata is currently out on loan in Turin. The Bianconeri can make his move permanent from Atletico Madrid for €35m, but, at this stage, his stay at the club seems unlikely.

Juventus have already paid €20m for a two-year loan, but have targeted many other strikers for January or the end of the season.

Fiorentina‘s Dusan Vlahovic is definitely on top of the Bianconeri’s shopping list, but the Tuscans’ asking price is €70-80m.

Morata scored 11 goals in 32 Serie A appearances under Andrea Pirlo last term.

Juventus have the worst attacking record among the top 10 in Serie A this season having scored just 18 goals in 14 games.

Being the team’s centre-forward, Morata is seen as one of the main ones responsible for Juventus’ lack of goals and he’ll have to turn things around soon to help Juve and convince them that he can be their striker also in the next campaign.

  1. I’ve said it before…. I love the guy, but he is not what we need. We need Vlahovic, badly, doesn’t matter his asking price. Our number 9 needs to score. Alvaro just doesn’t score enough.

  2. Just wanted to stop by and congratulate Juve on the 2 year-20 million loan deal for Morata. I believe Nedved should sign for 35 milion more and let Allegri play him on the left wing alongside Rabiot.

  3. @JUVE PAID 40 MILLION FOR BERNArdeschi: i should thank Ausilio for signing Gabi-One-Gol afterall that 1 goal he scored for Inter cost 30 million Euros so it could be worse !!! Besides, it was that moron Marotta that signed Bernadeschi for 40 million !!

  4. Gabigol was sold for 25, Juve dont even own Morata, but payed 20 million for a loan. Youre as clueless as Nedved ha ha.

Enjoy 7th and 10 points up to Inter. When the season ends it will be atleast 20, and im not even counting the docked points for cooking books. At the same time Juve spend 50 pct more than Inter on salaries, brought 400 million in for cashflow, no other club in Italy could, pays Allegri 9 million net a year, and 7th is the best you can achieve.

I said it before and i will say it again. Juve is problably the worst run football management in the world right now.

  5. Morata has been tasked to play as a defensive midfielder with a licence to roam into the box. He is the hardest working player in the squad. He gets zero service. Is he expected to create miracles? Anybody ‘booing’ this player, is demonstrating that they have little understanding of the current situation at Juve.

  6. Honestly put a functioning team behind him then blame him when he doesn’t score goals. He hardly gets any clear cut chances. He does a decent job in transitions holding up play and pulling us out of our midfield when our midfielders can’t string two forward passes together. Vlahovic might do a little better but he isn’t the solution to the lack of talent, grit and chemistry in this team. The entire midfield needs a revamp. Players like Rabiot, Ramsey, Arthur, Alex Sandro need to find a new team. Players like Cuadrado, McKennie, Morata need to be rotation players and replaced with top talents in the starting 11. & finally players like Dybala, De Ligt need to perform at their pay grade consistently. I wont comment on Allegri for now.. he’s a proven coach but so far he hasn’t justified the decision to hire him. Scapegoating one player for all this is unfair..

  7. We need a formation change to get the most of the planks donning the black and white shirt.

I’ll probably get shot down for this, but a 3-5-2 would surely suit the characteristics of the players at Allegri’s disposal. It would encourage more wing play, and crosses in the box will probably suit Morata better.

In defence I would have Danilo, De Ligt and Chiellini (Danilo could then transition effortlessly into a RB should we need to change formation during a game or when supporting the attack)

In centre midfield I would like to see Bonucci tried in the regista role (for his passing and defensive acumen), flanked by Locatelli and Rabiot (who show promise as mezzala’s), with Sandro/Pellegrini at LWB and Cuadrado playing RWB (Like Danilo, he can transition easily into a wide forward when attacking or adopting a formation change).

    Up top, Morata and Dybala

Team to play when all are fit (3-5-2)

    Szcezny

    Danilo
    De Ligt
    Chiellini

    Cuadrado
    Rabiot
    Bonucci
    Locatelli
Sandro / Pellegrini / De Sciglio

    Morata
    Chiesa

In addition to bolster the squad they should try to move heaven and earth to sign Vahovic in January and the should also bring back Rovella, Fagioli, Ranocchia to give more midfield options.

  8. @ JUVE PAID 40 MILLION FOR BERNArdeschi – YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT GABI-ONE-GOL !!!!! READ THIS:

Just last January Flamengo decided to invest in him by redeeming his card for 16.5 million euros allowing Inter to score a loss of 3.5 million and breathe a sigh of relief: Gabigol was a great disappointment but at least the club came out with their accounts in order.

That idiot Marotta he spent 40 million for bernadeschi not to mention 27 million for Pjaca and 40 million for Douglas Costa not to mention Perin, De Sciglio and Rugani……waste of money ! Of Course he left Juve, he knew he made too many mistakes to fix !

    I don’t see Juve finishing 6th 9th 5th 8th 4th 7th BUT I know Inter did that for 6 years 😉

  9. @TOKEN BUBBLE: there’s too many players injured to implement a new system – Management needs to put a gun to Allegri’s head and just admit that we need to rebuild and start playing the youth. This is one thing Pirlo was not afraid to do BUT Allegri is pressured to win so it’s a double-edged sword

  10. Congratulations, you have managed to outdumb yourself. While you wrote abot Marotta earlier, his replacement Arrivabene was questioned by police, and Juve can face another relegation, or atleast fines and point deduction. Meanwhile Marotta is chilling in Milan, champion of Italy and about to sign another contract with Inter.

Take care and enjoy 7th. 10 points.

  11. Get rid of Ramdontsay, Rabit, Bencan’tcaur already!! Find replacements for them.

MDS, Brena, Mcdonalds, Moratta, Cuad are at most a squad players, not first choice for a team like Juve..

Only match winner Juve has is Chiesa. Dybala and Loca are on and off. To be fair for Loca he is thrown into a bad midfield and pray him to play good.another scare is Bonucci and Chiellini are at the end of their career. Wonder how we got into such a mess.

  12. i cant bame morata alone because he has been feeding on scraps. but the problem is that he is a mentally fragile striker. when he is in poor form he sinks really low. that is why i felt allegri should have benched him and let kean start. to continue starting morata when he is out of form wont helphim

  13. Out: Bernadeschi, Rabiot, Rugani, Ramsey. Morata might not be worth 40 mill next summer, but he is not the worst Juventus player. I am sure 25 mill will be enough to buy him. But Vlahovic would be just perfect.
Sell 3-4 average players and splash on one big name.

  14. When Bonucci scores 1 less goal than you as an all-out striker, you are not a scapegoat, you’re an actual problem. Morata is a ghost for most games, whether he’s playing for Juve or Spain. The Spanish fans boo him as much as the Juve ones. I’m assuming he must be the loveliest and most fun guy in the locker room because managers keep picking him as the main striker. It can’t be for his goals.
