New Milan striker Morata suddenly breaks up with his wife Alice Campello
“After a period of reflection, Alice and I decided to part ways,” the striker said in a statement.
“It was a marvellous and respectful relationship, where we helped each other so much. The fruits of these wonderful years were our four children, undoubtedly the best thing we ever made. It’s a painful decision, but we took it respectfully and empathetically.
“Do not make up stories for a minute of notoriety because, I repeat, there wasn’t a moment of disrespect, only much incomprehension that slowly destabilised things.
“Alice will always have a special place in my heart. All we experienced together was incredible and a great learning experience.”
Alice Campello is from Venice and she met Morata when the striker was playing for Juventus. They got married in Venice in June 2017.
Campello also confirmed the break-up on Instagram, saying that it was the “most difficult decision of their lives.”
Campello insisted that no “third persons” were involved or “any sort of disrespect.”
Morata has joined Milan in a €13m deal from Atletico Madrid, signing a contract until 2028 with an option for a further campaign.
