Alvaro Morata and Rafael Leao start for Milan in the Trofeo Berlusconi friendly against Alessandro Nesta’s Monza, but Juventus transfer target Pierre Kalulu is not even on the bench.

It kicks off at San Siro at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Several versions of this event are held every summer, initially in honour of Silvio Berlusconi’s father, and now to remember the former President of both Milan and Monza, who died in June 2023.

With added emotion, the new coach of Monza is former Rossoneri defender Alessandro Nesta.

Paulo Fonseca has picked his starting XI including Mike Maignan, Rafael Leao and summer signing Morata in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

However, despite coming along as part of the squad on the team bus, Kalulu is not named on the bench, confirming he is on the verge of a transfer to Juventus.

Yacine Adli, Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers are all tipped to leave this summer, yet are in the starting XI.

Monza start Daniel Maldini, the son of ex-Milan legend Paolo and grandson of former captain Cesare, who completed his permanent transfer after a loan spell.

They already played their first official game of the season, needing a penalty shoot-out to get past Sudtirol in the Coppa Italia First Round after a goalless draw.
