Juventus have decided not to activate the buy option attached to Alvaro Morata’s loan deal, meaning he’ll return to Atletico Madrid this month.

The 29-year-old Spanish forward joined the Bianconeri on a two-year loan deal from the Spanish side back in September 2020, and things went pretty well in Turin for the former Chelsea man, who scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 35 Serie A appearances this season.

Journalist Giovanni Albanese details how Juventus will not pay €35m to make Morata’s stay in Turin permanent, meaning that the buy option will expire tomorrow and the player will return to Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish side will now freeze the 29-year-old’s situation as they decide whether to integrate him into the squad or sell him onwards this summer. Talks with Juventus can be reopened at a later date, but for the time being the Old Lady will now focus on other targets.
