Alvaro Morata says Juventus ‘can beat anyone’ if they play to the best of their abilities.

The Bianconeri have had a poor start to the Serie A season, but appear to have turned a corner by beating Manchester City in the Champions League, and face Genoa on Sunday.

“We know that if Juve play at our best and play as a team we can beat anyone,” Morata explained in an interview with Sky.

“It’s not going to be easy against Genoa, but we have to do everything to keep winning. We have to give everything.

“It will be nice to go back to Genoa, where we were champions of Italy. It will be nice. It will be a great game in which we have to give everything to move up the table, because we haven’t started in the best way.

“I think that’s normal though, because there have been a lot of changes in the team.”

Morata was deployed on the wing against Manchester City, and was asked to perform defensive duties for the team, but the forward insists he’s happy to work for the greater good.

“It’s important to play and to win. If I’m asked to do that, then I’ll do it and I’m sure there will be times when it goes well and others where it doesn’t go so well.

“I’m available to the team, as are all my teammates. What’s important is to have a lot of players at their maximum, to make it difficult for the Coach [Max Allegri] to pick 11 every game.”

The former Real Madrid striker was also asked about the buyback clause the Merengues retain on him, but was in no mood to talk about the future.

“I’m only thinking about winning with Juventus,” Morata replied.
