Milan striker Alvaro Morata reveals he watched a couple of Milan derbies from San Siro, but he had to disguise himself with a hat and dark glasses.

The Spain international scored on his Milan debut, contributing to a 2-2 draw against Torino in the opening Serie A game of the season.

However, he immediately suffered an injury and is now working on the pitch to return as soon as possible after the international break.

Milan host Venezia at San Siro on September 14 before facing Liverpool in the Champions League and Inter in the first Serie A derby of the season on September 22.

“I can’t wait to play the derby,” Morata told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Milannews.

“Now I can say for the first time. I have already come to San Siro to watch a couple of derbies as a fan, wearing my hat and dark glasses. Nobody realised I was there. I wanted to breathe the atmosphere. Even from the outside, you realise how much this game means.

“I can’t wait to score and win a derby to make Milan fans proud,” the Spanish striker continued.

“Inter are highly competitive. They have a great team, and we must play with our hearts. You can make a bad pass or miss a chance, but you must give your all on the pitch. The attitude can’t be wrong.”

Milan have lost the last six meetings with their city rivals, including the latest one in April, which allowed the Nerazzurri to win the Serie A title with five games to spare.

“I’ve learned from many coaches and teammates,” concluded Morata.

“I think I can still play for four or five years. With a high level of experience, I feel ready to give my all, which is good for me.”

The Spain international joined Milan for €13m from Atletico Madrid last summer, signing a contract until 2028 with an option for a further campaign.
