Morata alternatives for Juventus include Werner, Martial and Muriel

Juventus continue the search for a striker, with alternatives to Alvaro Morata including Timo Werner, Anthony Martial and Atalanta’s Luis Muriel.

Max Allegri has made it clear his preference is for Morata, who already knows the squad, his tactics and is loved by the fans.

However, with Atletico Madrid continuing to demand €20m to let him leave on a permanent basis, the Bianconeri have to consider other options.

According to Sky Sport Italia, these would include Werner on loan from Chelsea after his rapport with Thomas Tuchel hit the skids, or going back in for Manchester United’s Martial.

France international Martial had already been loaned to Valencia in January, so is available for a cut-price deal.

Sportitalia maintain Juventus have spoken to Atalanta about Muriel, who is down to the final year of his contract in Bergamo and is therefore looking for a permanent transfer.

The 31-year-old Colombia international is versatile, able to play as a centre-forward or in a supporting and wider role to another striker.

He scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 39 competitive games for Atalanta last season.

Another reason to favour Muriel is that he is adept at coming off the bench to run at tired defenders, so would not mind being out of the starting XI.
