Verona defender Evangelos Moras has dedicated his inclusion in Greece’s provisional World Cup squad to his club side.
The 32-year-old has made Coach Fernando Santos’ initial 29-man shortlist and, speaking at a Scaligeri publicity event today, he is now targeting making the final 23.
“I found out on Tuesday,” Moras told reporters. “But it still wasn’t anything official. I am happy to be in the 29 but I will be even happier if I can actually be on the plane.
“My inclusion is to the credit of the group here. We are all happy, after a great season my presence in the World Cup squad is a reward for everyone.
“I always believed I could do it, in spite of the fact I haven’t been part of the squad for the last three years.
“I’ve worked hard and, thanks to Verona, I’m back. Now I want to be in the 23.”
