Two of the smaller teams in Serie A come together on Sunday and these Monza vs. Spezia predictions suggest that the home side might be in for some more good fortune. The newly-promoted Monza have now won two in a row in their first ever season in the top flight.

Monza vs. Spezia odds

1 – Monza to win – 17/20

2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 1/1

3 – Half time/Full time Monza/Monza – 2/1

4 – Both teams not to score  – 10/11

5 – Monza to win to nil – 9/4

Monza seemed to have turned the corner after Silvio Berlusconi made the decision to sack Giovanni Stroppa and install the inexperienced Raffaele Palladino as manager. The shock victory over Juventus was followed by last weekend’s defeat of struggling Sampdoria.

After five straight defeats at the start of the season, Monza will now be on a high but should still be wary of a Spezia side that have caused a few upsets of their own in the last few seasons.

But there is definitely a good atmosphere around Monza at the moment, as the fans start to really enjoy the club’s first ever Serie A campaign. A home win will be expected here – and should be backed, considering Spezia’s struggles away from home this year.

Although Luca Gotti’s side have made a relatively positive start to the season, their away form has been no help at all. All four games so far have ended in defeats, with ten goals conceded and no goals scored at all. That is why a bet on Monza to win to nil on Sunday could be a good call.

The latest setback away from home was the 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Lazio last weekend. It could have been even worse if Ciro Immobile had dispatched his first-minute penalty, after Ethan Ampadu had brought the Italian striker down.

Gotti will be hoping that his Spezia team will be able to halt that winless away record at the Stadio Brianteo this weekend. But recent records don’t suggest that will be the case and it seems unlikely that Spezia will even score a goal on their travels.

Monza team news

Raffaele Palladino will feel no need to tinker with his Monza starting eleven this weekend after two consecutive wins. His new system seems to be working – and the attacking unit, in particular, is really beginning to gel. Expect to see Christian Gytkjaer come off the bench at some point though.

Spezia team news

Luca Gotti also has no need to change his side, with no new injury worries this week. He will be hoping that his players will show the same intensity that they did at the start against Lazio last weekend – but with a more positive result.
