Not many would have had the home side as favourites here at the beginning of the season. But these Monza vs. Sassuolo predictions show that Serie A is far from predictable.

Monza vs. Sassuolo odds

1 – Monza to win – 5/4

2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 4/5

3 – Both teams to score – 8/13

4 – Monza to win 2-1  – 8/1

5 – Gianluca Caprari to score at anytime – 11/4

After a woeful run of results, Sassuolo will be eyeing this fixture as a chance to win a first three points since the end of October and climb away from the relegation zone. But this is a Monza side that is playing well and getting results. A home win seems far more likely.

Monza did have to cling on for the win against Cremonese last weekend, winning 3-2 after leading by three goals. But the fact that they scored so many in the first place is a sign that this team can compete in Serie A. Another afternoon of goals could be on the cards on Sunday.

Gianluca Caprari will be raring to go after netting twice in that last game and should get a starting place, thanks to the ongoing injury of striker Dany Mota. A bet on him to find the net at anytime could be profitable.

Sassuolo boss Alessio Dionisi will be trying to figure out how to get his team to win a game. The loss against Lazio may have been fairly predictable, but the Neroverdi have only picked up one point in their last seven games – and have lost all their games since the restart.

A home defeat to fellow strugglers Sampdoria kicked off 2023 and it has gone downhill from there. Sassuolo will need to start winning a few games soon or Dionisi could well be just the latest Serie A manager to lose his job.

A draw would probably be considered a good result for the visitors on Sunday, considering the form of Monza. But it is difficult to see that happening, even if a bet on both teams to score might be a good idea.

Monza team news

Raffaele Palladino will see no real need to change his starting XI for this one, as Monza have now not lost in four. Andrea Colpani may start in the middle. But with Dany Mota still out, Andrea Petagna should get the nod up front ahead of supersub Christian Gytkjaer.

Sassuolo team news

Andrea Consigli is still injured, so Gianluca Pegolo will start in goal and hope to keep the Monza attack at bay. Alessio Dionisi will also need to decide how to spearhead his misfiring attack, with Andrea Pinamonti also likely to miss out. Grégoire Defrel could get the start there.
