This may not be the most immediately attractive fixture in Serie A this weekend. But these Monza vs. Salernitana predictions suggest that it could be an exciting and evenly-balanced game.
1 – Monza to win – 8/11
2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 4/5
3 – Both teams to score – 4/5
4 – Lorenzo Colombo to score anytime – 12/5
5 – Monza to win 2-1 – 15/2
After a couple of tough games at the beginning of the season, Monza seem to have settled into their stride and have begun to pick up some points against the more middling sides in Serie A. The win away at Sassuolo last weekend was a good example of how well the club can compete in this league.
Raffaele Palladino has also had to deal with a number of injuries to important players this season, so anywhere above the relegation zone is probably something to be celebrated.
After that win last time out, Monza will be confident of pushing forward against a struggling Salernitana this Sunday. It could be a close match but the Biancorossi should prevail in front of their own fans.
Salernitana were probably feeling pretty good about themselves for about an hour of last week’s game against Inter. After a less than convincing start to the campaign, Paulo Sousa’s side were still holding onto a draw – until Lautaro Martinez entered the fray.
Four goals from the Argentinian later and Salernitana had experienced their biggest defeat of the season, remain winless, and in the bottom three.
It has been a frustrating time for a team that has done so well to stay in the Italian top-flight for the last two seasons. Things should get better for Sousa’s side but they may well go away from Monza empty-handed once again this weekend.

Monza (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Caldirola, D’Ambrosio, Marí; Ciurria, Machin, Gagliardini, Kyriakopoulos; Colpani, Mota; Colombo
Salernitana (4-2-3-1): Ochoa; Daniliuc, Gyömbér, Lovato, Bradarić; Bohinen, Legowski; Candreva, Martegani, Jovane; Dia
Palladino looks like he will have to do without captain Matteo Pessina for this one after he limped off the field against Sassuolo. Armando Izzo might be missing as well, with Danilo D’Ambrosio coming in at the back as a replacement.
After a 4-0 home defeat, it might be expected for Paulo Sousa to change around his starting XI. But Salernitana didn’t start too badly against Inter and he may give his players another chance here, before altering the line-up later if things are not going to plan.
