Two promoted sides meet on Saturday and these Monza vs. Cremonese predictions suggest it will be a closely fought affair.

Monza vs. Cremonese odds

1 – A draw – 5/2

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 4/5

3 – Both teams to score – 10/11

4 – Cyriel Dessers to score at any time – 7/2

5 – Final score 1-1 – 11/2

These two sides were promoted to Serie A at the end of last season knowing that just surviving in the Italian top-flight would be a tough task. Somewhat surprisingly, it is last year’s champions that look like they will definitely be making a swift return, while Monza seem relatively safe in mid-table.

Monza will be confident of picking up another three points this weekend, but recent results have not been quite as impressive. Raffaele Palladino’s side probably should have beaten Verona last week but ended up having to make do with a point – only their fourth in the last four games.

Overall, Monza have done well this season after the dismissal of Giovanna Stroppa in the middle of September, when the club was bottom of the league with just one point to its name. A draw against Cremonese this weekend will be considered a disappointment, but that is just a sign of how well Monza have done in their first ever Serie A season.

A point for Cremonese should really be seen as an achievement away from home, but Davide Ballardini will know that it is victories that his side desperately need now. There have now been two defeats since their only league win of the season at the end of February.

The Grigiorossi continue to play well but just don’t seem to have the personnel to compete in Serie A this season. The defeat to Fiorentina last weekend proved that once again. Now time is beginning to run out, as far as survival goes.

Cremonese are now a full 12 points from safety and, considering they have only won that amount of points all season, escaping the drop seems unlikely. But a point here will be welcomed and it could be Cyriel Dessers who finds the net for the visitors on Saturday.

Monza vs. Cremonese line-ups

Monza (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Izzo, Caldirola, Marí; Birindelli, Pessina, Sensi, Carlos Augusto; Ciurria, Caprari; Petagna

Cremeonese (3-5-2): Carnesecchi; Ferrari, Vásquez, Bianchetti; Sernicola, Pickel, Benassi, Meïté, Valeri; Tsadjout, Dessers

Monza team news

Palladino has no fresh injury concerns, so will probably go with the same starting XI that faced Verona last week. That means that Stefano Sensi could retain his place after scoring his side’s only goal at the Bentegodi.

Cremonese team news

Davide Ballardini may also stick with largely the same team as last week but may be tempted to bring back Soualiho Meïté from the start. He will still probably have to make do without the injured Vlad Chiriches though.
