Monza are looking to make Andrea Pinamonti their first big-name signing since earning promotion to Serie A, according to reports in Italy.

The Silvio Berlusconi-owned club have big ambitions and are looking to make a statement in Italy’s top flight.

Calciomercato.com report they are ready to pay €19 million to Inter for Pinamonti, despite interest from Fiorentina and Torino.

The report suggests Monza director Adriano Galliani has already made initial contact with Pinamonti’s agent.

The 23-year-old enjoyed and impressive campaign on loan at Empoli with 13 goals including two in a stunning win over Napoli and one against parent-club Inter.

His form led to calls for him to be selected for the Italy national side and be given a chance by Inter boss Simone Inzaghi.

Pinamonti made his Inter debut in 2016 and played eight times during the title-winning campaign of 2020-21 but has been on three loan spells – at Frosinone, Genoa and Empoli – in that time.

  1. $30 millions and he’s all yours, Monza

Def one of if not the most valuable Italian forward we have in serie A

    So cough up

  2. This is the problem in Italy today. Very few Italians playing and those with promising talent can only go to smaller clubs. Nothing against Fiorentina, Torino et al but until the big clubs start to invest and develop the Pinamonti’s of Italia the national team will not be competitive

  3. @Rob B Totally agree. Right now, Inter are targeting one player who jumped ship when a bigger paycheck was waved in front of him and another who is probably joining the club just to spite their rivals. Meanwhile they’re looking to ship out a promising Italian talent who is not only homegrown but also a lifelong fan of the club. That’s the sort of player they should be looking to make a club icon and future captain for the long haul.
