Monza have unveiled a plaque in their stadium marking what will always be President Silvio Berlusconi’s seat after he took them to their first ever Serie A experience.

Berlusconi had first made his name in football at Milan, winning practically every trophy at Italian and global level over 31 years.

At the time of his death on June 12, 2023, he had been the President and owner of Monza for five years.

The golden plaque is placed on what was his seat at the U-Power Stadium in Monza and carries one of his most famous quotes: “Who believes will fight, who believes overcomes all obstacles, who believes will win!”

The patron took over the club when it was still in the lower divisions in 2018, coming off bankruptcy under the previous owners.

They earned promotion from Serie C1, then B after a 19-year absence before finally making the historic step into Serie A in 2022.

The team flourished once Giovanni Stroppa was sacked and replaced by youth team coach Raffaele Palladino, a decision made by Berlusconi and his CEO Adriano Galliani.

Monza finished in 11th place on 52 points, the second best tally for a side in their debut Serie A season.
