Adriano Galliani refuses to rule out Mauro Icardi’s move to Monza: ‘Let’s see what happens.’

The Argentinean striker is not on Christophe Galtier’s plans at PSG and was not included in the team for their Ligue 1 debut against Clermont last weekend.

A return to Serie A has been on the cards for a few months and Monza appear to be strongly interested in the former Inter captain.

“I don’t know, I won’t talk about transfers tonight. Let’s see what happens,” Galliani told Sportmediaset when asked whether the Brianzoli’s have a chance to sign ‘Maurito.’

“We have signed players who know Serie A because it always takes time for foreign players to settle in. This season, we can’t afford not to do well from the start.”

Monza have had a busy transfer window so far, having signed several new players, including Andrea Ranocchia, Stefano Sensi (loan), Matteo Pessina, Marlon, Alessio Cragno, Andrea Carboni and Gianluca Caprari.

The Biancorossi are ready to start their first-ever Serie A campaign and will face Torino at home on Saturday. They beat Frosinone 3-2 in the first round of the Coppa Italia last night.

Galliani, a former Milan director, also gave his view on the Serie A title race, naming his three favourites for the Scudetto.

Juventus, Inter and Milan have been winning the title for the last 20 years and I don’t think we’ll see something different,” he said.

Roma will do very well, Napoli have a good team but, as a Milan fan, I hope the Rossoneri will win.”
