Monza CEO Adriano Galliani confirms talks with Juventus for Wojciech Szczesny and Fiorentina for Andrea Colpani, but there is ‘nothing concrete,’ while the team loses to Palermo.

The club is preparing a new season with a different coach, as Raffaele Palladino walked away for the Viola, so Alessandro Nesta was brought in.

Their third pre-season friendly match of the season was a 1-0 defeat to Serie B outfit Palermo, with a goal from Federico Di Francesco.

“I thought that Nesta was closer to Palladino in his tactics, but instead he is asking the midfielders for very different movements,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

“I hope the players learn quickly before the first official matches of the campaign. I would gladly have a repeat of last season’s results.”

Monza look to future

They are targeting Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny, who curiously has been pushed out of his side by the arrival of Michele Di Gregorio from Monza.

“Szczesny is aware of our interest. I did not speak directly to him, but I did talk to someone else.”

There are also growing reports that Palladino wants a reunion with attacking midfielder Colpani at Fiorentina.

“There is something, but nothing concrete yet. We’ll see what happens.”

Galliani did confirm that Pedro Pereira will remain on the orders of new coach Nesta, despite an approach from today’s opponents Palermo.

Monza are also in negotiations with free agent Stefano Sensi, whose contract expired on June 30.
