Monza midfielder Stefano Sensi was stretchered off in tears today and it is now confirmed tests showed a fracture to his ankle.
The Italy international is owned by Inter and on loan at newly-promoted Monza, who are in their debut Serie A campaign.
He was playing in today’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona at the U-Power Stadium when his ankle seemed to get caught under him during a sliding tackle.
Sensi was distraught and clearly in tears as he was stretchered off the field and a statement from Monza this evening confirms why.
The tests in hospital showed a fracture to the malleolus and base of the fibula.
It is not clear how long he will be out for, but one can assume several months.
The 27-year-old has a long and unfortunate history of injuries and spent last season on loan at Sampdoria.
He was purchased by Inter from Sassuolo in 2020 for €25m plus bonuses.
