Monza are hoping to close out a deal with Napoli for Andrea Petagna at some point in the early stages of next week.

The newly promoted side, who are owned by Silvio Berlusconi, have been working hard this summer to strengthen their squad as they look to settle comfortably in the Italian topflight. They’ve made a number of good signings this summer and their work isn’t slowing down any time soon.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Monza are looking to sign Petagna from Napoli next week, agreeing a €5m loan deal with a €10m buy option attached.

The 27-year-old Italian forward is open to leaving the Partenopei this summer after struggling for consistent playing time under Luciano Spalletti last season. Petagna only started four Serie A matches and played 569 minutes total in the league, scoring three goals in that time.

Napoli signed the Italian forward from SPAL in January 2020 in a deal worth around €16.6m.

  1. I like Petagna. He is a rare big man (even rarer, now that Koulibaly is gone) on the Napoli squad and I always thought he was underused.
