After his loan spell with Udinese, Arsenal defender Pablo Marì is reportedly close to a Serie A return for Monza.

The centre-back will turn 29 later this month and his contract with the Gunners runs to June 2024.

It is expected to be a similar deal to the one Monza has struck for several players following their first ever promotion to Serie A, specifically a loan with obligation to buy if they manage to avoid relegation.

Sky Sport Italia and Goal.com maintain the two clubs are working on the details and should finalise an agreement within the next 48 hours.

Pablo Marì moved from Arsenal to Udinese on a dry loan in January 2022, making 15 Serie A appearances in which he scored two goals.

His previous clubs include Real Mallorca, Manchester City, NAC Breda, Deportivo La Coruna and Flamengo.

Monza are building up quite a prestigious squad and also have Andrea Ranocchia in defence, a free agent after leaving Inter.
