Despite being shoved to the sidelines even during an injury crisis, it’s reported Riccardo Montolivo is refusing to leave Milan in January.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the midfielder intends to see out his contract until June 30 and then move on as a free agent.

He had been linked with Genoa, where he’d reunite with former Fiorentina and Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli.

Montolivo turns 34 later this month and has not made a single appearance for the Rossoneri this season.

Coach Gennaro Gattuso preferred to move full-back Davide Calabria into a midfield role during an injury crisis rather than call on the veteran’s services.

His agent claimed the player is not even being allowed to take part in training ground games between ranks.
