Captain Riccardo Montolivo says Milan ”want to prove everyone wrong” by continuing their good form.

The Rossoneri have been inconsistent so far this term, but got an impressive victory over high-flying Fiorentina last weekend.

“Obviously the calmness around us is directly linked to the results we get,” Montolivo told Milan Channel.

“We want to continue like this. There have been many opportunities to step up and we didn't take them so now we want to prove everyone wrong and we want to take that step forward.

“We beat a side that was ahead of us and that was very satisfying, so we are happy.”

The Italian international used to be known as a trequartista, but has been playing in a deeper role under Sinisa Mihajlovic this season.

“My playing style has changed over the years, as I have got older. Before I used to play higher up the pitch, now I am more of a ball winner and more of a holding player.

“I always try to help the team especially when our opponents counter-attack. Maybe I struggle to help out in attack but that’s what is needed at the moment and I’m happy to do it."
