Vincenzo Montella reveals Fiorentina “were angrier than I was” at half-time and knew they couldn’t lose to Dynamo Kiev.

Khouma Babacar snatched a last-gasp equaliser in Ukraine, leaving the Europa League quarter-final in the balance.

“I liked the way the team played, with great hunger and consistency, creating so many chances with soul and desire,” the Coach told Mediaset.

“I think this is a very important draw, as we achieved it with all our main characteristics – pace, technique, pride and sacrifice.

“I would’ve been very angry if we’d lost this game, but the team never stopped believing. The goal we conceded was fortuitous and down to a deflection.

“At half-time the team was angrier than I was. I tried to relax them, give them patience to turn this around and continue playing without getting stretched out or hasty.

“If we had conceded another on the counter-attack, it would’ve been an unacceptable blow.”

Substitute Khouma Babacar popped up with the decisive over-head kick at the 92nd minute.

“He scored a great goal. He has physique and technique, can be the complete striker, but it’s not the first time he has scored a very important goal right at the end this season.”
