It has emerged that it will be up to Vincenzo Montella whether David Pizarro and Massimo Ambrosini get new Fiorentina deals.
The ageing midfielders both see their contracts at Stadio Artemio Franchi expire at the end of the season, and previous reports have claimed that the pair would be offered one-year extensions.
However, La Nazione have insisted that neither the players nor the directors will have a say in the matter – Coach Montella will be the one to decide whether to stick with the veterans.
Pizarro has been linked with a move back to Chile in the future, whilst Ambrosini is rumoured to be of interest to Orlando City.
It is not yet clear though, whether the tactician will stick with the duo for next term, or looked to overhaul his midfield with some younger legs.
