The Coach’s relationship with the Viola has seemingly soured beyond reconciliation, with reports over the weekend indicating that he will be dismissed from his position on Monday.
“I am very sorry for the situation that has been created,” Montella has countered in today’s Il Corriere Fiorentino.
“Certainly there have been mistakes made, but my intention is certainly not to find those responsible, but solutions for the common good.
“As in any relationship between people you get to a point where it is necessary to clarify so as to continue with momentum.”
Montella’s holiday is seen to have infuriated club officials trying to clarify his position in Florence.
“My vacation was planned for some time and the club was aware, it had been purposefully planned for a week after the end of the season.
“Do I want to stay? I have always given my priority to Fiorentina, provided there were clear plans and objectives for the support and the participation of the fans, to have an added value, as has always happened.
“The base to start again from is cohesion, clarity and responsibility to ensure that our passionate fans can continue to be an added value.
“What do I offer Fiorentina? Passion, work and professionalism.
“Have I spoken to other clubs? No, I never met anyone, neither Presidents nor directors from other clubs.
“And not just in recent days, but in accordance with all contractual and ethical commitments that I made and respect.”
