Montella: ‘No Roma regrets’

New Catania Coach Vincenzo Montella concedes “every player is on the market and I have no regrets about leaving Roma.”

The tactician was promoted from the position of youth academy manager to the senior bench when Claudio Ranieri resigned and took them to Europa League qualification, but was replaced by Luis Enrique.

“Perhaps Roma wanted a change of mentality, so they chose a foreign Coach like Luis Enrique who doesn't have the pressures or preconceptions,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was better for me to have a change of air, choosing a team that is less prestigious, but that will allow me to grow.

“I'm happy to be at Catania where I found a very organised, structured and competent club. I consider this to be the best decision I could've made right now.”

However, he also conceded the pressures of working for a smaller side.

“Every player is on the market if there is an adequate offer, but director Pietro Lo Monaco would immediately find alternatives.”
