In spite of the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, Coach Vincenzo Montella claims it was 'Milan's best match in the pre-season'.

The Rossoneri were defeated in the last game of the International Champions cup, as their second-half subs were not of a level with those of the Blues.

“It was the best game in our pre-season, against an opponent of a great level,” Montella nonetheless told the Press after the game. “We controlled the game and we had many chances, I counted 4-5 clear ones in which we could have scored again.

“I'm really pleased with the performance. It's a shame about the score, but the disappointment will be gone tomorrow morning, while the performance remains. I say this with great conviction.

“We created very much and held ourselves well on the pitch. For 70 minutes I saw no difference between the two teams, in fact I liked Milan better.

“Let's not forget that we were facing an excellent team and a great Coach, who knows how to get into the head of his players.

“And such players! In the second half they fielded [Eden] Hazard, [N'Golo] Kante, [Juan] Cuadrado, [Branislav] Ivanovic, Oscar, [Michy] Batschuayi. Conte has a great group. But we're developing, so I feel satisfied.

“It's nice to hear that people think of me as the extra weapon of this team, but I don't like to speak about myself.”
