Vincenzo Montella wants his Milan players to be “motivated and angry” against Sampdoria tomorrow.
The Rossoneri lost at home to Udinese in Week 3, and the Coach reportedly had some harsh words for his squad on Monday.
“I’ll know tomorrow after the game if I got a positive response,” Montella shrugged in his pre-match Press conference. “You give your answers on the pitch. I never want to see a team that accepts the trend of the game, I expect to see anger, pride and responsibility as well as tactical and technical aspects.

“The lads were very disappointed by Sunday’s defeat and they carry that disappointment with them. We need to be motivated and angry to face the next match.
“Was I harsh on the squad? I won’t confirm or deny it, there are some things I never say publicly. Some things are said to the team in private. I’m very outspoken with the players.”
“I’ve seen a reaction after the Udinese defeat, it’ll take pride to face this situation and wear this shirt.
“I know the history of Milan. This is a team that needs to grow, and to do that we need work and tactical certainties. That will let us play with more consistency.
“I’m not worried because I see a great desire to do that. Even on Sunday I saw some good things, we can’t lose balance in our judgements.”
Some of the senior players in the Diavolo squad have come in for the harshest criticism, notably captain Riccardo Montolivo.
“When things aren’t going well, the most experienced players are the most criticised. That happens everywhere, not just here.
“The responsibility then falls on us Coaches: it’s an unwritten clause in our contract.”
