“Palermo represent a difficult game, as we are facing a side in desperate need of points and a passionate atmosphere for football. It’s very tough in my view and we will not be underestimating Palermo.
“The Sicilians have a clear idea of their football and the Coach Roberto De Zerbi intrigues me. Alessandro Diamanti is someone I’ve worked with, he’s very smart and experienced, so we must be extremely concentrated.
“We need sporting ferocity in every game, to play our football and do it well.
“My squad is gaining the confidence to play a certain type of football and the automatic movements that come with that.
The injury to Riccardo Montolivo means a change of role for Giacomo Bonaventura, who can fill more or less any midfield hole.
“His story proves that he’s a wide player, in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, but he has psychologically settled into a new role and is doing well. He actually enjoys playing internally more than wide when going forward.”
M’Baye Niang is out, but Mati Fernandez and Luca Antonelli are available after long injury lay-offs.
“They trained well and are able to play, although I don’t know for how many minutes.”
