This week Montella had to release a statement clarifying his position on Gomez after the German’s agent complained to the Press.
“I want all of you to be fair,” Montella told reporters today. “You journalists created a storm. I said two different phrases and you put them together into one sentence.
“You created this storm and I am really hurt by it. You can go back and look at the recordings of what I actually said.”
Meanwhile, the team is focused on the trip to Chievo and Diamanti could receive his debut.
“He is very eager and enthusiastic. We’ll see how he does in today’s last training session. El Hamdaoui and Marin had problems this week, so they are out, while Neto is in the squad.
“Do I expect more signings? The club knows what I think and we’ll see what we can do, even if we have too many players right now.”
This is the halfway stage of the season and Fiorentina are in sixth place, but only four points off third.
“We have been fairly consistent recently, aside from the defeat to Parma. The team looks more determined and feisty compared to a few weeks ago,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We’ve done good things so far this season and if we win in Verona it’ll be a satisfying first half of the campaign. Not excellent, but sufficient. We lacked consistency and are capable of much more.
“The competition for third place is tighter this year, as many teams are clustered within a small number of points. That means it’s more complicated for everyone.”
