The new Coach earned a 1-0 win in the rescheduled trip to Bologna on Wednesday, a game that was originally snowed off on January 30, but caused controversy by benching Francesco Totti and playing David Pizarro for the whole encounter.
“I am truly happy that it'll be Totti's 600th appearance for Roma and give him my compliments.
“Francesco is coming from a period of form that was not brilliant, but recently I saw him in better shape physically. He is certainly an added bonus for Roma.
“Pizarro didn't want to play and felt he couldn't do it. He did us a favour by stepping on to the field and in the second half repeatedly asked for a substitution. It's not guaranteed that he'll play on Sunday.”
Ranieri famously left Pizarro out, but Montella came in by reverting back to the 4-2-3-1 system used under Luciano Spalletti.
“I intend to analyse only what happened from the moment I became Roma Coach,” he explained.
“Parma will have our same desire to bring home the three points. I don't want to reveal my ideas, but the most important thing is to stay calm. On Wednesday we did it and emerged with the win from Bologna. We're on the right track.”
