Vincenzo Montella confirms “I spoke to Marcello Lippi” about the Italy job, but there was “nothing more”.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio resigned today, and in an angry Press conference he insisted that Lippi had wanted Giampiero Ventura as CT.

The World Cup winner was supposed to be Technical Director, but couldn’t take the role as his son’s job as an agent could have been a conflict of interest.

Lippi has denied that he insisted on Ventura, stating that he named him as one of three possible candidates alongside Montella and Gian Piero Gasperini.

“I talked to Lippi,” the Milan Coach confirmed.

“It happened at the end of the [2015-16] season, there was an exchange of ideas. It was only that, nothing more”.
